The FSI OneVoice Conference is always one of the highlights of our year, and the 2020 conference in San Diego was no exception!
We attended informative panels and workshops, made incredible new connections, and hosted a dinner at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse , where we had fun chatting with clients like M Financial Group.
We also got to talk with our partners at OS33 about their new cloud security and compliance solution, Workplace Stronghold, which they unveiled at FSI.
Client Success VPs Kevin Johannesen and Megan Fulton at the Docupace booth
Docupace Founder & Chairman of the Board Michael Pinsker was one of many Docupace team members who attended the conference.
“FSI is a great collaborative event, with a mix of broker-dealer executives, industry vendors, and industry advocates,” Pinsker said. “It’s a chance to engage with one another and share our thoughts on key issues we’re facing in the industry.”
Here are the topics that took center stage at FSI OneVoice 2020:
All eyes on Reg BI
Unsurprisingly, SEC Regulation Best Interest (Reg BI) was a key concern at FSI OneVoice, and the most frequent topic of conversation for those who stopped by the Docupace booth.
Many attendees expressed concerns about meeting new disclosure requirements, defining and identifying conflicts of interest, and changing their workflows to accommodate additional forms.
Reg BI was a hot topic not just for individual attendees, but for presenters as well. A pre-conference workshop went in-depth on Reg BI implementation strategies, and an OS33 workshop on compliance entitled “Evolution of Suitability” covered a variety of regulatory changes and how broker-dealers can prepare.
We’re working on a digital processing solution that will simplify compliance with Reg BI. Keep an eye on our News & Events page for updates.
Digital transformation continues
Technology was also top-of-mind at FSI. There were multiple presentations about the dynamics of our hyper-connected, digitally evolving world and its effects on the financial services industry, from shifting service models to automated workflows.
Despite this technological revolution (and the clear benefits of running a paperless office), some firms are still using paper, reluctant to change their operations. We got a chance to talk to leaders from some of these firms, and encouraged them to explore digital solutions like the Docupace Platform.
Another great conference experience
From chatting with clients and new connections to attending presentations, we had a lot of fun and gained valuable insight into current challenges for broker-dealers — particularly Reg BI and the push for digital transformation.
We’re keeping these key issues in mind as we continue to work on new and exciting tools for wealth management firms.
Thanks to everyone who attended the Docupace dinner, stopped by our booth, and contributed to the discussions that made FSI OneVoice 2020 such a fun, engaging, and enlightening experience.
We can’t wait for next year’s conference!
